Why a bridge?

Surely a bridge has nothing to do with personal finances. One thing about bridges is that they are influenced by circumstances around them. If the ground is shaken by an earthquake the bridge can collapse. others have collapsed because they were built by people who did not know what they were doing or who used poor quality materials.

Look around there are many people experiencing financial collapse. They were shaken by an earthquake when the business that employed them went bust. Others have made poor decisions because they did not know what they were doing. Sometimes people have taken advice but found that it hindered rather than helped them. Look at the people who have taken on mortgages or saved for a pension but years later find themselves struggling because they were badly advised.

If we make the right choices about how we use the money that comes our way then we will have a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs etc. Our bridge model recognises the fact that our financial security can only be achieved by making a number of individual decisions. This is why the logo that we use is a bridge made of bricks. Each brick represents a decision. The bricks are held together by mortar which represents our soft skills. Building with bricks takes time if the wall is going to last and look good. If you look for a get rich quick scheme then you may find yourself with a bridge that will collapse easily again.

How then do we survive a financial collapse? Yes it is possible to survive a financial collapse and start again. The book Bridge2Riches based on the author's experience of surviving difficult circumstances. Everything seemed OK until the main breadwinner in her household lost their job due to the industry being restructured to suit the political circumstances of the time i.e. an earthquake. It was not just finances that collapsed but the stress led to additional health problems. It took time but it was possible to recover and start again. In other words this book is written from experience rather than being purely based on theory.
